Capt. Wicar Ahmed in the cockpit
of a PIA Hawker Siddeley HS.121 Trident 1E. Note PIA Tridents
were fitted with Boeing style control wheels replacing the
Trident's normal 'ram's horns'. This allowed for commonality
with Boeing 720Bs that PIA already operated.
Capt. Wicar Ahmed being one of
the pioneers joined PIA in March 1959. He had a flying career of
35 years and retired in July 1994. During his flying days he
flew almost all types of aircraft in PIA fleet at that time
including Douglas DC-3 Dakota, Lockheed Super Constellation,
Fokker F27, Trident, Boeing 720B, Boeing 707 and Airbus A300.
He remained Airbus A300 instructor as well. Capt. Wicar on a
number of occasions was also given responsibility to operate PIA
